RSU Chapter President Selected as Newman Civic Fellow

Rhyder Jolliff, president of the Theta Kappa Chapter at Rogers State University in Oklahoma, was selected as a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow. Rhyder is one of 273 students nationwide to be honored by Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education. The one-year fellowship will focus on personal, professional and civic growth.

Rhyder, as sophomore at RSU, has shown a passion for engaging with his community time and time again. Under his leadership the Theta Kappa Chapter at RSU provided more than 6000 hours of local community service in their first six months on campus. He was also key in a campus coat drive that collected more than 1500 coats for distribution locally. He is also active on campus as a student ambassador and tour guide as well as a Student Government Association Senator.

RSU President Dr. Larry Rice, nominated Rhyder saying, “[His] commitment to social change exhibited thus far, not to mention his potential for success in future endeavors, make him worthy of this recognition.”
