Spotlighting the Delta Mu Chapter of Minneapolis, Minnesota
Our chapter was born by the desire to promote fellowship and good times, while also accommodating the hectic schedules of our members. We now meet once a month over dinner to discuss upcoming events and charities, catch up with one another, and enjoy a delicious meal.
Although we are a young chapter, we are committed to the ESA philosophy of good friends, good works, and good times. Many of our members hold current positions at the state level, and also have held several different positions on the state and international levels.
When raising money for charities, we ask for donations instead of holding silent auctions or luncheons. This strategy relates to our hectic schedules. We want to maximize our time and do as much good as possible. Each month at our dinner meeting, we select the cause we will support by placing our suggestions in a hat and drawing one. This way, everyone has a fair chance to have their charity supported – without discussion or voting.
Among the projects we’ve been fortunate to support are:
- Camp Courage
- Animal shelters
- Homeless shelters
- Local school and child programs
- Wildlife charities
Our chapter is a close-knit group. We’ve enlisted our families to help, and now we’re comprised of mothers, fathers, daughters, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and people who have been around long enough to call family.
