Memebership Spotlight

Take a look at some of the exciting things our members are doing.

Rodger Weaver

Weaver, a Missouri member, is writing a book entitled SLIM unscripted. This true life narrative parallels Rodger’s current personal battle – dealing with paralysis and incurable cancer - as he reflects on his childhood with a colorful and eye witness account of his father, the legendary Sheriff L.L. “Slim” Weaver.  Slim, almost seven feet tall inclusive of a Stetson, never carried a gun in his 22 year career as a lawman. Weaver’s proceeds from the book will be donated to St. Jude’s.  The book will be available mid-July. To pre-order, contact him at slim.unscripted@gmail.com.

Linda Schmidt

Schmidt, a Kansas member as well as the ESA for St. Jude Coordinator, organized a unique fundraiser called Cookin' for the Kids, modeled after the popular Food Network program Chopped. Chefs raised money for St. Jude, then, with seven teams of two, teams were each expected to cook one entree in 30 minutes. The panel if celebrity judges then chose a winner. In addition, there was a contest for Best Decorated Apron. All together this event raised $ 9,833.25 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

"I think every member of ESA should experience the wonderful things that happen at St Jude. The trip will make you come home and realize why we, as members of ESA, work so hard to raise money for St Jude! The kids need us!! The parents need us! And we are blessed to belong to an organization that cares so much about helping others! ESA Rocks!!"
