Rollin' for St. Jude project

This year at IC Convention in Overland Park, Kansas, Gerry Brunskill suggested that, to raise a little more money for St. Jude, we put a little red wagon on the St. Jude IC Challenge registration table and encourage members to roll quarters in their state and send them along with a representative to convention. Little did we know the huge impact it would make. (Wyoming members carried $350 in rolled quarters all the way to Kansas!)

Just by setting the wagon on the table we raised $900 in three days. But the project really took off when we asked little Ellen, the St. Jude patient who attended convention, to walk through general assembly with the wagon. In 10 minutes we collected over $1,000! It was that easy! (A big THANK YOU to Linda Schmidt, Kansas ESA for St. Jude coordinator, who made numerous bank runs to cash in all those quarters!)

To hold a project like this at your next regional, state , or chapter meeting, here is what you will need:

- A red wagon
(ask around to members in your state - chances are someone has one!)

- The ability to get the word out to members who are attending the meeting to let them know to get their quarters ready!

- Someone who is willing to make a bank run to turn all those quarters into cash

And that's it! Simply set out your red wagon, let people about the project, and encourage people to drop their quarters (or cash, or check) into the wagon!

This is a great way to raise more money for St. Jude, and we all know that every little bit helps! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
Significance of the red wagon at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital:

At St. Jude, doctors and staff strive to make patients feel as comfortable as possible. Rather than being transported in wheelchairs, children are pulled in red wagons around the hospital.
